The exhibition is organized in partnership with the Tychy City Museum, with the conceptual and executional project managed by the renowned Katowice-based design studio Wzorro Design. The cars featured in the exhibition were prepared by the 126Evolution Group, a part of the Kraków Automobile Club, one of Poland’s oldest and most respected automotive clubs.

The exhibition was deliberately launched at Gemini Park Tychy on July 5th, coinciding with the Great Little Fiat Expedition for Children’s passage through Tychy. This event is led by rally driver and Gemini Holding co-owner, Rafał Sonik. The goal of this edition is to raise 1 million euros for children injured in road accidents. Last year’s first edition saw 35 “maluch” cars participating; this year, the number has more than doubled.

– The ‘Legend of the Roads’ exhibition tells the story of the Fiat 126p in an engaging and humorous way, featuring original car models from 1973 to 1994 – says Aleksandra Zawodzińska, Marketing and PR Director at Gemini Park Tychy. – The exhibition space is filled with fascinating stories, little-known anecdotes, historical photographs, and five Fiat 126p cars from various production periods – she adds.

The models on display include:

● ST – I series (produced between 1973-1977)

● ST – II series (produced between 1977-1984)

● ST – II series (produced for the Italian market between 1977-1984)

● Rally model (built at the Small Engine Car Development Center, 1983)

● FL – Face Lifting (produced between 1984-1994)

The exhibition islands highlight the most interesting chapters in the history of the Fiat 126p:

1. The sensational premiere – November 9, 1972

2. The cost of a dream – 69,000 zł, equivalent to two average salaries at the time

3. Impressive features and equipment – e.g., a panoramic front windshield

4. Fiat around the world – expedition: August 1976 – October 1977

5. The happy ending – September 22, 2000, the end of production

Tychy has a rich history connected with the Fiat 126p, as the FCA Poland factory in Tychy produced the largest number of these cars. The first “maluch” cars rolled off the production lines in Tychy in 1975.

In Tychy and Bielsko-Biała, a total of 3,318,674 of these cars were produced over 27 years (1973-2000), making it the most popular car in Poland, and the know-how gained from Fiat significantly contributed to the modernization of Polish industry at the time.
