An original cable car from PKL’s Kasprowy Wierch line, old tickets, and numerous memorabilia have inspired young artists to design the “Cable Car to Kasprowy” exhibition, sponsored by Gemini Park Tarnów. The exhibition captures the unique atmosphere of Kasprowy Wierch and the history of the legendary cable car. The works of students from the Tarnów High School of Fine Arts were first showcased at the mountain summit on Sunday, April 28, during the 16th Friends of Kasprowy Wierch Gathering, an initiative led by Rafał Sonik, CEO of Gemini Holding.

The idea for the exhibition was inspired by this special event.

– Kasprowy Wierch is a unique peak that brings people together. Here, strong relationships are formed, rooted in a shared passion for skiing and love for the Tatra Mountains. The atmosphere of this place, far from the rush of everyday life and pervasive commercialism, creates significant social value. This value is worth highlighting and sharing with as many people as possible, encouraging them to discover Kasprowy for themselves – says Rafał Sonik, CEO of Gemini Holding.

The Friends of Kasprowy Wierch Gatherings unite a community bound by their passion and love for the mountains—particularly for this “Holy Mountain” of Polish skiers. The initiative promotes dialogue among all communities connected to the peak, with its members actively engaging in the sustainable development of Kasprowy. The project also includes meetings and thematic exhibitions.

– Kasprowy Wierch connects mountain enthusiasts and nature lovers of all ages. The history of this place, and the cable car itself, is remarkable, evoking admiration and respect. But it’s also the story of people for whom Kasprowy Wierch has become a place to pursue their passions and serve others. The Friends of Kasprowy Wierch Gatherings are a beautiful tradition that brings people closer to each other and to the mountains. This peak continues to inspire young people, whose work we could admire at the upper PKL station on Kasprowy Wierch – notes Daniel Pitrus, CEO of PKL.

The “Cable Car to Kasprowy” exhibition premiered on Kasprowy Wierch and, after its run there, will be expanded and moved to Gemini Park Tarnów. The exhibition will help raise awareness of Kasprowy among those who have yet to discover this extraordinary place and inspire them to explore one of Poland’s most legendary peaks. Through the unconventional perspective of budding artists, the exhibition has a strong chance of resonating with the younger generation.

The competition to design the exhibition is the first phase of the project. Its concept is based on the use of original exhibits, memorabilia, and presentations on the construction of the Kasprowy Wierch cable car, with its centerpiece being PKL cable car no. 4. The project includes the conservation restoration of the cable car, the collection of exhibits, and the preparation of a documentary film and multimedia presentations that will be part of the exhibition.
